The Wedding Venue: Red Barn Events
It was a beautiful fall day in November, and Red Barn Events in Waxhaw, NC was the site of Ashley and Mike’s beautiful and autumnal rustic wedding. As primarily a photographer of weddings, I’ve shot at many a beautiful and interesting wedding venue, but something about Red Barn Events really caught my eye. What was it, exactly? It may have had something to do with the quaint house…
…or it may have had something to do with the adorable horse and goat hanging around outside. Still, it may have had to do with the idyllic location not far from downtown Waxhaw outside of Charlotte, NC! This venue was only a 15-minute ride from my house, and the ride in was so scenic.
But, I digress. In short, Red Barn Events was a beautiful and ideal location for a rustic and country wedding, and this wedding photographer was excited to be here for the first time! The venue owners were lovely and welcoming, and everyone felt right at home.
The beautiful and crystal-clear day began with me hanging out with two precious little girls as they played outside and interacted with the horse and goat. It was a little chilly, so we didn’t stay outside too long, but I did manage to get some beautiful shots of Ashley’s dress, shoes, and bouquet before going inside!
Inside, Ashley was getting her makeup done via the talents of Pink Warrior MUA.
The atmosphere at Red Barn Events on this wedding day was fun and festive! Eventually, it was time for the first touch, which occurred downstairs in the living room. What a sweet and laugh-filled moment!
After the first touch, the guys continued to get ready (and had a blast while doing so).
And my second photographer Charity got these awesome solo shots of Mike chillin’ in the living room.
The girls continued to get ready. I have always love close-ups of the bride’s dress getting buttoned up!
The ceremony grounds at Red Barn Events were ready! I absolutely loved the simple décor and lake backdrop. So modern and romantic!
Here come the groom, officiant, groomsmen, bridesmaids, ring bearer, and flower girl walking down the aisle! The excitement mounts! What I really loved the most about Ashley and Mike’s wedding ceremony is that all of their kids were a part of it. How special!
It was now time for Ashley to make her grand appearance, escorted by her father. So beautiful and emotional!
I love the look on Ashley’s face here as she gazes at Mike while walking down the aisle!
The ceremony was chilly but wonderful. I love that Ashley and Mike kept sharing sweet laughs!
My favorite part of the wedding ceremony was the Ring Pops (which the ring bearer and flower girl happily snacked on right afterward)!
Then came the exchanging of the rings and another cute shared laugh.
And, now, introducing the new Mr. and Mrs. Seymour! Congratulations!
After the group portraits, we had a short but sweet and cute couples’ session, which was a mix of dramatic, romantic, and silly photos.
And then it was time for the wedding reception! Off to the barn!
The wedding reception décor was simple yet lovely. Country and rustic wedding at its finest! Again, the simplicity of the details was something I really loved about Ashley and Mike’s wedding.
I absolutely loved the naked cake from Sweet Spot Studio in Charlotte. It was as beautiful as it was delicious!
My favorite detail shot of the day was captured by my second photographer Charity and featured Mike’s firefighter helmet and the rings. I mean, really, you can’t get more meaningful than this!
After the introductions, it was time for the first dance as husband and wife for Ashley and Mike!
Mike then sweetly danced with his mom…
…and Ashley excitedly danced with her dad.
Then came the cake cutting, y’all! Yum!
After a few speeches and toasts, it was time to dance! Eklipse Entertainment provided amazing music and a great light show!
Oh, and let me not forget that the Tin Kitchen food truck was there to serve up some delicious eats! (If you haven’t checked them out yet, you should. Their food is amazing!)
More wedding-reception dancing and fun! Everyone was having a great time!
Then it was time for the bouquet and garter toss!
More dancing and fun during the wedding reception! One of my favorite highlights was when everyone started singing and dancing along to Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise.” Takin’ it back to the 90s!
At the end of this cold autumn night, a sweet sparkler send-off happened. I love sparklers, and you really can’t go wrong with a sparkler send-off!
I really enjoyed documenting Ashley and Mike’s wedding at Red Barn Events in Waxhaw. Hopefully, I’ll return to document another wedding! Congratulations to you and your family, you two sweet lovebirds!
